Deep Stealth’s Andrea James and Calpernia Addams attend the 2007 OutFest Legacy Awards at the Directors’ Guild in Hollywood

Deep StealthCalpernia Addams and Andrea James of Deep Stealth Productions attended the Outfest Legacy Awards Thursday evening. Hosted by Caroline Rhea, the event honored Judith Light and Showtime for their commitment to LGBT film.  As part of Outfest’s silver anniversary in 2007, they featured 25 groundbreaking feature films from the past quarter century that profoundly impacted LGBT audiences. Outfest announced it will be preserving a short subject documentary about trans culture in the 1960s as part of their next round of preservations:

QUEENS AT HEART (1965), 22 minutes, USA, color, 35mm
Produced by the Southeastern Pictures Corporation and is believed to have been shown before the feature exploitation flick She-Man (1967).
A rare and surprisingly poignant glimpse into pre-Stonewall transsexual life, as four NYC trans women are interviewed for a six-month psychological project, and includes rare footage of the pre-Stonewall club scene.  Narrated by Jay Martin.

The 2007 Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival will be screening “Casting Pearls” as part of their ‘Gender Blender’ shorts program.
