Deep Stealth Productions’ Calpernia Addams and Andrea James joined a local transman social worker to present on “Media in Transition” to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today. The talk featured a “trans basics” discussion, followed by a survey of trans representations in the media since 1952. The presentation wrapped up with strategies for moving forward.
Andrea James noted, “We are thrilled to work with GLAAD on this important topic. GLAAD has made great strides in assisting trans people in their fight to get respectful and accurate terminology used in mainstream media, and they work closely with producers and media outlets to get the story right. We’re delighted to work with them to enhance the great work they do and raise emerging issues so they can adjust their strategies accordingly.”
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
