The 17th annual GLAAD Media Awards will air on Logo Saturday April 15th, and on VH1 (for the first time in history) on Sunday April 16th. Check your local listings for times, and be sure to watch for trans attendees, including Deep Stealth’s Calpernia Addams and Andrea James (representing nominess Transamerica and Middle Sexes), Surreal Life’s Alexis Arquette, and TransGeneration’s Raci Ignatio, T.J. Jourian, Lucas Cheadle, and Gabbie Gibson.

GLAAD Awards recognize trans issues

Trans issues were a major focus of the 17th annual GLAAD Media Awards held in Hollywood April 8.

Deep Stealth’s Calpernia Addams and Andrea James were on hand to represent nominees Transamerica and Middle Sexes: Redefining He and She.

Duncan Tucker’s “Transamerica” was named the outstanding film in limited release. “The L Word” was honored as outstanding drama series in a season that saw the inclusion of an female-to-male character, and a trans-themed episode of Cold Case won. “TransGeneration,” which aired on the Sundance Channel and Logo, was chosen as outstanding documentary for its look at transgender college students.
