MiX NYC Queer Experimental Film Festival celebrates its 20th year in 2007, and their lineup will include “Casting Pearls.” The 7-minute short stars Calpernia Addams and is directed by Andrea James. The Woodstock Film Festival in upstate New York has announced their 2007 schedule. “Casting Pearls,” a short film starring Calpernia Addams and directed by Andrea James, will play on a double billing with Cynthia Wade’s award-winning documentary Freeheld, about Lieutenant Laurel Hester, a dying New Jersey police officer who fights to transfer her pension to her domestic partner, Stacie Andree.
“Casting Pearls” producer Ron Nyswaner is scheduled to attend the festival.

Star Calpernia Addams and director Andrea James were on hand last night for Outfest’s Best of Girls’ Shorts program at the historic Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. The screening included:

This year’s Woodstock Film Festival in upstate New York features a number of shorts, narrative features and documentaries that highlight the beauty of the Hudson Valley and the filmmakers who call it home. The Poughkeepsie Journal highlights several of these, including:
"Casting Pearls,” a short film produced by Woodstock-area resident and Woodstock Film Festival Advisory Board member Ron Nyswaner, who wrote the screenplays for “The Painted Veil” and “Philadelphia."
The short stars Calpernia Addams as an actress enduring a series of casting sessions, and was directed by Andrea James.
